The search is over.
After slogging through job interview after job interview and then being told, “we regret to inform you that we have filled the position” over-and-over again, I finally landed a full-time, permanent position. Since losing my job back in May 2016 I struggled. I would send my resume and cover letter everywhere and, luckily, I was able to land a job interview at least once a week. However, once I received the news that I didn’t get the position I interviewed for, I took the news hard. I would sometimes try and hide from my wife, I would disconnect from everybody, or I would sit on my couch alone and cry – that’s not easy for me to admit. During my path to try and land employment, I was able to find a short-term contract position. The position was right up my ally, especially since I was part of a great team. I thrived there because I had some great mentors around me. Once the contract was over, however, it was back to the job search – something I dreaded. And again, I had a few interviews followed by rejections. Ugh. Then, after one interview, I finally received an offer. I gave my current employer and instant “yes.” The position also feels like it’s the right fit for me and – after being two weeks into my position – I feel like my career can thrive working for this awesome organization. And this happened on my first day…
This left me speechless.
After receiving this card, I realized that no matter how hard your job search might be, you will always find an employer that values you and your skills. Don't give up.
